Platforms used in miRNA Analysis

miRNAs (more than 4500) have been identified and annotated in the miRBase registry . Simple array platform that can detect 553 non-redundant miRNAs encompassing the entire setof miRNAs for human and animal miRNAs have been previously reported . In this article, we will compare the different platforms used in miRNA analysis.
Future research is based on developing lab-on-a-chip (LOC)technology with added advantage of miniaturization and micro-fabrication as well as developing isothermal amplification-based assays and lateral-flow assay based systems .
